KAYAK DIVERS > FAQ

Q: How do you get in and out of the kayak?
A: Most people associate "kayak" with a thing where you sit inside it having contorted your legs and backside in through a hole but for diving we use a thing called a "sit-on-top". You sit on, not in, these. Once kitted up and ready to dive you slide off the side into the water. At the end of the dive you surface next to it and de-kit in the water, clipping the gear to lanyards. Once all the heavy stuff is off (cylinders, weight belt etc.) you can climb back onto the kayak from the side. Once aboard the gear can be hauled in and secured.

Q: What stops the kayaks floating off when your under water?
A: Same as a RIB or convetional dive boat. You use an anchor or mooring.

Q: How far can you get on a kayak?
A: Far further than you can just shore diving. You're looking at a range of up to a few miles. Range varies with the fitness of the diver and the prevailing conditions.

Q: Why do elephants have trunks?
A: Because sheep don't have strings.

Q: Why don't we have a kayak diving forum on this site?
A: Bescause forums end up full of utter nonscence.
